Wind noise is genuinely harder to remove than steady hum or hiss, and we tested that rather than assuming it: we mixed synthetic wind noise into a clean speech recording at the same loudness as an electrical hum, then ran both through CleanGrab at its strongest setting. The hum came down about 3.9 dB. The wind came down only about 0.4 dB — roughly a tenth as much. That's because wind noise sits mostly in the same low frequencies as a human voice, so the model has to leave more of it alone to avoid damaging the voice underneath it. Expect a noticeably calmer recording, not a silent one.
Hum and hiss are steady — the same buzz or static sits under the whole recording, which is exactly the kind of noise our model is built to isolate and remove. Wind noise is different on two counts: it gusts (loud one second, quieter the next, never fully steady) and it's concentrated in the low end, right where a voice's own fundamental frequency lives. That overlap is the whole reason it's harder — the model can't turn the wind all the way down without also turning the voice down.
