Meeting recordings pick up more noise than you'd think
A laptop fan, a passing car, someone typing notes in the same room, the hum of an old monitor: none of it is obvious while you're on the call, but it's all there in the recording. How to clean up a call recording
- Export or download the recording from Zoom, Teams or your meeting tool: video files work too, CleanGrab pulls the audio out.
- Drop the file into CleanGrab (up to 45 minutes).
- Pick Balanced to start; go Strong if the room noise is heavy, Gentle if voices start sounding processed. CleanGrab is designed for speech, so birdsong and other nature sounds may be reduced as noise. There is no mode that isolates birdsong or keeps only a chosen nature sound. Changing the strength does not add that capability.
- Download the cleaned MP3 or WAV, or the video with the cleaned sound, to share, archive or feed into a transcription tool.
What CleanGrab won't fix in a call recording
Video-call rooms are notorious for echo: a voice bouncing off a hard-walled room, or a speaker sitting too close to their own speakers. Heavy room echo and reverb are a harder, separate problem: CleanGrab reduces light echo, but it will not fully erase a very reverberant room. We'd rather say that plainly than promise something the tool can't do.
CleanGrab is tuned for voice and speech, podcasts, interviews, calls, voice memos, lectures. On music or other non-speech audio the result can be poor, and the tool will tell you when it couldn't detect clear speech instead of handing you a mangled file.

Common questions
Can I upload the video file directly?
Yes: CleanGrab accepts common video files as well as audio; it pulls the voice track out, cleans it, and hands back a cleaned MP3 and WAV, plus the video with the cleaned sound put back (the picture is copied untouched).

How long can the recording be?

Yes: no account, no watermark, 10 recordings a day. Adobe Podcast, Krisp and Cleanvoice all limit free usage to push you toward a paid tier. What happens to the recording afterwards?
No. Your upload is deleted the moment it's processed and the cleaned file is wiped from the server within 45 minutes. Nothing is shared or used to train anything. See privacy.
Where is the Zoom recording location or Teams recording location on my computer?
Zoom recording locations default to a Zoom folder inside Documents, though a host can pick a different folder in Zoom's settings; if the zoom recordings location isn't there, check those settings. The Teams recordings location is different: Microsoft saves to Downloads or OneDrive, depending on how the call was recorded. Drop the file into the box above to clean it up.
Is this a clean up computer tool, like a disk or PC cleaner?
No. This cleans the audio inside one recording at a time, not your computer's storage or registry, and it scans nothing. It isn't a utility clean up tool for the PC: for that, Windows' own Disk Cleanup or Storage Sense is the place to start. Nothing here touches your system, only the audio file you upload.
Is it possible to edit a Zoom or Microsoft Teams meeting recording?
Yes, once you have the recording as a file, usually an MP4. CleanGrab edits the sound of it: upload the file and you get the voice back as a cleaned MP3 and WAV, up to 45 minutes free. To cut out or crop parts of the video itself you need a video trimmer, which is a separate step.
