Remove animal sounds from audio free, online, no sign-up

A dog, a bird or another animal in your recording? Drop the audio or video file below. Voice only keeps the human voice and pulls the rest down. We tested dogs and birds only: barking during speech came out between 14 dB quieter and gone completely, birdsong up to 80 dB quieter. Other animals are not tested, so try one file first. No sign-up, no watermark, 10 files a day.
Voice only keeps the human voice and pulls animal sounds down. Two people talking at the same time? No setting here reliably separates two voices: Voice only can lose or swap the voice, so try Standard clean-up and listen to the result.
Video (MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM) or audio (MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG), up to 45 minutes and 1 GB. A video comes back as the same video with the cleaned sound; the picture is copied, not re-encoded. You also get the cleaned MP3 and a lossless WAV.
No watermark, no sign-up, 10 files a day. Files up to 45 minutes free. A pass allows longer files and more files a day.
What we tested, and what we did not
| Animal sound | In our tests |
|---|---|
| A dog barking while someone talks | from 14 dB quieter to gone, about 44 dB on average |
| A dog barking in the pauses between sentences | much quieter; in a pause there is no voice to damage |
| Birdsong behind a voice | up to 80 dB quieter |
| Cats, roosters, horses, cows, insects and everything else | not tested: we expect them to come down too, but have no numbers |
| Howling and whining | not tested |
We measured dogs and birds only: nine dog recordings and four bird recordings, each mixed under a clean voice so we knew what the voice should sound like. That is a small test, so please read the table as "what we saw", not as a promise. Every 10 dB sounds roughly half as loud, so 20 dB quieter is about a quarter of the loudness.
Remove animal sounds from audio: what to expect
Voice only is built to keep the human voice and pull everything else down. An animal sound that is not speech should therefore come down, but the tool does not know the difference between a dog, a cat and a rooster. It only tries to keep a voice. How far another animal comes down depends on how much it sounds like speech, and we have not measured that for animals other than dogs and birds. Try one short file first and listen to it.
Each animal has its own page where we have numbers
- Remove dog barking from video: barking during speech, in pauses and over a quiet voice.
- Remove bird sounds from audio: birdsong behind a voice.
When Voice only is not the right pick
- Two or more people talking at once. A second voice is speech too. In our tests with two people talking over each other, the second voice came down by only about 7 dB on average, and on two of four test recordings it lost or swapped the voice. Try Standard clean-up and listen to the result.
- An animal you want to keep. This tool keeps the human voice and lowers the rest. To split a song into parts, use StemGrab.
How to remove animal sounds from audio
- Leave Voice only selected and drop your audio or video file in the box above.
- Wait while it runs on our own server; the box shows how far along it is.
- Listen, then download the MP3, the WAV or the video.
If Voice only can't run at that moment, your file gets our other clean-up instead and the result says so. The same mode is on the page to isolate voice from background noise.

Common questions
How do I remove animal sounds from audio for free?
Drop the audio or video file in the tool on this page with Voice only selected and download the result. It is free for 10 files a day, up to 45 minutes each, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Which animal sounds did you test?
Dogs and birds only. A dog barking while someone talked came out between 14 dB quieter and gone completely, about 44 dB quieter on average. Birdsong behind a voice came down by up to 80 dB.
Does it work on cats, roosters or other animals?
We expect them to come down as well, because Voice only keeps the human voice and lowers the rest, but we have not tested them. Try one short file first.
Can it remove howling or whining?
We left howling and whining out of our tests, so we can't say how well those come out.
Does it remove all of the animal sound?
Not on every recording. Listen to the result before you publish, and remember that a word an animal completely covered cannot be brought back.
Will it change how my voice sounds?
Voice only is built to keep the voice. On clean speech in our tests the words stayed the same and the level moved by about 1 dB at most.
There are two people talking in my recording. Will it work?
Not reliably. With two people talking over each other, Voice only lost or swapped the voice on two of four test recordings. Try Standard clean-up and listen to the result.
What happens to my file?
The upload is deleted right after processing and the cleaned file is wiped within 45 minutes. See privacy.
